WSL QS3000 event is official local qualifier for the Vans Triple Crown
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 30 October, 2016 - The HIC Pro sees another lay day this morning as officials deemed the small 2-3 foot surf at Sunset not contestable. A solid swell is forecast to arrive later in the waiting period. Next call is tomorrow at 7am.
Surfline's Extended Forecast:
North Pacific Swell: We have recently been watching the progress of a large complex storm system as it develops over the Bering Sea. Meanwhile, smaller lows will sweep under and into it over the next several days. Although this storm system is looking to be a better wave maker for the US West Coast (due to its configuration), Hawaii is still expected to receive multiple pulses of decent size NW swells next week. Models have been jiving pretty well for this run to occur, but conflicting some on the exact strength/size of it. At this time, we feel the LOLA model is a bit hot, especially on the swells over the 3rd-4th, and should come down some on size.
Over Tues-Wed-Thurs (1st-3rd), we're expecting to see a series of progressively larger NW shifting NNW swells (315-340°). Sets on the North Shore are looking to pick up from head high to 2-3' overhead on Tuesday, to double overhead on Wednesday, then pushing near triple overhead on Thursday. Then another good pulse may move in for Friday the 4th. Stay posted for updates as we continue to refine things on this still developing swell event.
